(Baltimore March 14 1887 – Paris October 5 1962)
American-born bookseller and publisher, then naturalized as a French citizen.
Her celebrity is due to the bookshop landmark “Shakespeare and Company”, founded by her in Paris in 1919. It soon became a gathering point for writers and intellectuals.
